For those of you following this series....Welcome Back! For those of you new here....Welcome! If you're new, don't worry, you can read from the beginning of this series here.
If you've never heard of Flylady, you can read all about it here.
I am really looking forward to today's task. In post 9 of 32, I took the spiral notebook pictured and made a list of my Morning, and Bedtime Routines. This was the beginnings of my Control Journal. Now, I will be taking this notebook even further. I plan to write down my Afternoon Routine that I have added on to my daily tasks. I will also work on a list for the Weekly Home Blessing Hour. This is a list of 7 cleaning tasks. I am going to divide these tasks up through the week so, I'm going to make a Monday- Friday list, and decide which days are best to complete each task. These weekly tasks will pretty much make up my Afternoon Routine. I will also be adding the Zone Cleaning Lists, tweaked to fit the zone in my house. Now that I have established some great routines/habits, I will be working daily on the zone cleaning for the week.
One of my major goals is to eventually have planned meals, and have make ahead meals ready to go in the freezer. I want to make a master grocery staples list, and menu ideas. I'm hoping that by adding these lists it will be the jump start I need to work toward that goal.
Another page I will be adding is an In Case of an Emergency page with important phone numbers and addresses. You never know when an emergency could come up, and you need a phone number quickly, so I'm going to put them in one place that the whole family knows where to find them. I'll have the typical Fire/Police/Ambulance numbers, but will also add doctors, insurance (medical/house/car), my husband's boss/human resources, attorney, etc. I will also label family names with there relation to us (next of kin information). After I have written all the important numbers, I'm also going to write down all of my regular contacts on another page. This way I don't have to worry about that if my phone stops working, or is lost.
Note: This Control Journal is going to be kept in the kitchen where everyone knows right where to find it. I will never take it out of the kitchen for any reason, so that it doesn't get misplaced.
This Control Journal is a huge task, so I plan to work on it daily until I have everything I need at mine and my family's fingertips. I'll just set my timer, and go to work. I'm sure before I know it I will have it completed. Having all of these things together, organized and in one spot will give a peace of mind. I know that when faced with an emergency, we can quickly have any information that we need. Even more so, if something were to happen to me and/or my husband, my daughter can find the notebook to help whoever it is that has come to help her.
This is just another testament to how wonderful Flylady is! I would have never thought to gather up all this information now (mostly the In Case of Emergency page), so that Lord forbid, something happens to put me in panic mode, I don't have to franticly look for this information. It's already laid out for me. By my own hand, I will have once again taken a little time now to save myself stress and work later. Thank you Flylady!
What do you think about this idea? Do you already have an In Case of Emergency page in your home? Have you had an instance where you had to use it? I would love to hear what you think about this task or how it has helped you before.
Have a safe and wonderful day!

I don't have an In Case of Emergency page, but think it's a great idea! As you say, anything you can have in place to help prevent panic in an emergency is a wonderful tool!
