Extreme Couponing!!!!

Hi all!
Did you happen to catch the special on TLC ( The Learning Channel ) titled, "Extreme Couponing?"  If you did, can you believe it?!  Some of you I'm sure can.  While others are looking with their mouths dropped to the floor.  I LOVE using coupons and stockpiling, but I'm no where near to this extreme.  It's unbelievably impressive, the time and effort that those featured couponers go to for such great deals.  My hats off to them!

For those of you who stockpile this way.....Way to go!  For those of you who feel that's too overwhelming, but would like to get deals, you don't have to go to that extreme.  I manage to get a nice stockpile on the 3 to 4 copies of the weekly coupon inserts.  It's just enough for me to not take up tons of space, but give a nice stash for my family.

If you are new to the whole couponing idea, check out some of my posts on how to get started here.  If you can't find the answers to all your questions, just feel free to ask in the comments.  I'll be glad to help. :) Also,  check out the forum WeUseCoupons.com , which is where you will find Nathan Engels aka Mr. Coupon ( the last featured couponer on "Extreme Couponning").

If you are a blogger looking to monetize your blog, WeUseCoupons.com is another great affiliate to use.  Be sure to tell them that Jennifer @ Just Peachy in Dixie sent you in the referral field. ;)  You'll be helping my fund this blog.  :)

For those of you who missed the airing of "Extreme Couponing,"  don't worry!  It will be airing again on Jan. 4 at 10pm, and again on Jan. 5 at 1am.  You can see the upcoming schedule here on TLC.

So, couponers.....keep couponing!  For beginners.....get out there and learn the world of coupons, and relish in the FREEBIES! :)

Happy Couponing!

Only 3 ingredients Peanut Butter cookies!!!

Hi all!
While visiting with new friends in the beautiful North Carolina mountains back in the fall, my daughter learned a quick and easy recipe from one of their daughters for peanut butter cookies.  It's a perfect fast and simple recipe that my 9 year old can whip up in a hurry!

  Only three ingredients:
  1 cup of peanut butter
  1 cup of sugar
  1 egg

Directions:  Mix all three ingredients, roll into balls, place on cookie sheet, and bake at 350 until edges look golden brown.

They are quick and delicious!  Thank you "B" ;) for sharing this recipe with us!  We think of our newest friends and the lovely mountains every time we make them.

Happy baking!

New Year's Resolution......Plan Your Work, and Work Your Plan (Link up)

Hi all!
I'm taking a tip from my husband for my New Year's Resolution this year.  He is a master at time management, and he is always saying....."Plan your work, and work you plan."  So that is exactly what I plan to do this upcoming year.

I'm going to fill in my calendar, make lists, set (reachable) goals, and work them through to completion! I've got so many things that I want to learn like, cake decorating, sewing, more advanced crochet projects, along with ideas for repurposing items.  I have all these creative thoughts, but I never take the time to do them.  This year, however, I intend to do it!  I don't think by any means that I will master all (or any, for that matter) of these things, but I am determined to give them all a fair trial, and share them on this blog.

In order to do that though, I have got to get my household duties in order and running on a tight (but manageable) schedule.  My house stays pretty much company ready at all times, but I feel like I'm running around in circles most of the time trying to keep up. Thanks to www.Flylady.org, I will have be able to get my house running much more smoothly. If you haven't checked her site out, you really should!  It is a great site to help you manage your household duties.  By using Flylady, I'll be able to keep my house in tip top shape, and have time to work on my crafts.

So this year, with inspiration from my husband, I'm going to plan my work and work my plan!  I'm hoping for a fun, productive, and efficient New Year!

What's your New Year Resolution?  Do you have a household, homeschooling, blogging, or just life in general, tip that you would like to share for the upcoming year? I would love to hear it!  Please join the link below, and tell me what you have planned for 2011.  Don't forget to add the link to your blog so others can join in on the fun!

Happy Planning!

Where will you be on Black Friday?

Hi all,
Where will you be on Black Friday?  You'll find me at the drugstores.  Oh Yeah!!!  I know you coupon veterans will be right there with me.  However, if you are one of the people reading this right now saying.....Huh?!.....keep reading! :)

Your drugstores have FANTASTIC deals on Black Friday.  Deals that make great stocking stuffers, items to put in gift baskets, or just to stockpile those health and beauty items.  My favorite places to check out the Black Friday deals for the drugstores are at iheartcvs.com, iheartriteaid.com, and iheartwags.com.   Be sure to go check them out.  Erica does a great job bringing you all the great drugstore deals!

If you are new to couponing, go to my posts Let's Talk Coupons, or My Coupon Binder to learn more on the subject.  If you are new to shopping drugstores, because you think their prices are too high, go to one of my posts, Shopping Drugstores 101-CVS, Rite Aid, or Walgreens, to see that you CAN shop at the drugstores!

Feel free to ask me any questions you may have!  I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, and find lots of great deals on Black Friday!!!! :)

Happy Shopping!

Cloud gazing....

Hi all,
I just had to share with you the cloud I noticed while traveling last week.  Doesn't it look like a pencil sketched drawing of a tornado?  My daughter and I just love gazing at the clouds, and pointing out ones that take the shape of things.

Anyway,  I just thought some of you might think it was neat.  Sorry for the poor  photographic quality.  I shot these with a cell phone from inside the car while in motion.

Remember to stop and gaze at the clouds!  :)

How do you load your dishwasher?

Hi all,
I thought I would share with you today a household tip of mine.  Do you load your dishwasher randomly?  Do you just open the door, and land the dish, cup, or utensil in the first empty space you see? I'll admit, I'm a little OCD when it comes to my dishwasher. :)  However, there is a method to my madness.

For instance, on the bottom shelf, I load my plates and dessert plates in an alternating fashion of big plate, small plate.  I don't know why I do this exactly.  I just feel like the big messier plates get cleaner when the smaller dishes are in between them rather than all the large plates together.

I also keep all like bowls together.  Then, if I have a casserole dish I just put that in the extra space.

Now, I'll move up to the top shelf and come back to the bottom in a moment.

The top shelf is simple.  Coffee cups are all on one side.  Regular cups are in the middle, then child cups are on the other side.  Spatulas, and mixing spoons are put to the side or in between the cups.  I do this because, I have a smaller cabinet over my coffee maker where I keep all the coffee cups.  The regular cups are in another cabinet, while my daughter cups are kept in a low cabinet for easy reach.  It is easier to keep all the like cups together for easy, quick unloading.

Now, back to the bottom shelf.  Here's where you might think....Hmmm....she wasn't kidding about that OCD comment.  :)  Each utensil has an assigned slot.  Do you think I've totally lost it yet?  Just hold on, and let me explain before you send me to the looney bin for homemakers who've cracked! I arrange the utensils from front to back in the order of my divider in the utensil drawer.  This makes for very easy unloading!  Just grab one section at a time, and put in the utensil divider.  No sorting each individual knife, fork or spoon to find the correct slot.  Anything that makes my day more efficient or fast is good in my book!

So what do you think?  Crazy? or Brilliant?  ;)  How do you load your dishwasher?

Happy Unloading!
Jennifer

Tonight's dinner in a flash!

Hi all,

There's nothing like an easy, fast meal after traveling home from a weekend away.  Thanks to my left over chicken from this recipe I shared with you last week, and Robin Miller :) we had just that.  I cubed the left over chicken last week after our meal, and popped it in the freezer.  So, I put the frozen cubed chicken in the skillet, thawed, and set aside before I started the first step of this recipe.

Besides having to wait for the water to boil for the pasta, and thawing the chicken....I had this delicious meal done in two shakes of a lambs' tail. :)  My husband, DD and I ate a huge helping each, and we have plenty for left overs tomorrow.

Cereal Box Repurposed...Very Clever!

Hi all,
I just had to share this with you all.  I purchased a book on ebay, and couldn't believe how clever it was packaged!  It was in a flattened cereal box, taped at the top and bottom.

They taped a white sheet of paper on the front and back to make it easy to find the mailing address and postage.

What a great use of empty cereal boxes, and saves buying an envelope!  I just love great repurposing ideas, and thought some of you might get a kick out of it too.

What have you repurposed lately?  :)

Hope you all enjoy the tip!

Recipe--Chicken with Roasted tomatoes, shallots and white beans....

Hi all!
Anybody else a Robin Miller fan?  I just love her show, "Quick Fix Meals"!  She shows you how to make a meal fast, while making extra at the same time for another meal later in the week.

Makes for some fast meals when you are in a hurry, or just not in the mood to stand in the kitchen for what seems like an eternity!  Here is one of her meals that we enjoyed last night.

How do you homeschool?

Hi all,

Today I thought I would discuss how we homeschool.  We have been homeschooling our DD since the beginning.  She entered the 4th grade this year.  We homeschool year 'round.  Our school year goes from 9/1 - 8/31, taking small breaks throughout the year.  I have found this works better for us, rather than one big break.
We have been using the A Beka Book program.  For those of you who are not familiar with this curriculum, it is Christian based.  You can purchase whole grade curriculums, or just the subjects you would like.  I like this program because it has all of the lesson plans laid out for me.  I know exactly what I need to cover each day.

It has worked well for us.  She did exceptionally well with her testing at the end of 3rd grade.  Which gave me the confidence that I was not failing in my job as her teacher. :)  (Do any of you worry about that at times?)  I do have to say, that we find it a bit monotonous, so I usually try to supplement our learning through extra books from the library, or things found on the internet to liven it up a bit.

I have to admit that using the A Beka Book curriculum has been my safety net in this whole adventure.  I think I would be overwhelmed (more like terrified) trying to use some of the other methods out there that don't use curriculums.  I admire those with the confidence to do this!

Which gets to the real reason why I'm writing this post.  I'm curious to hear about some of the other great methods out there.  I would love to hear how you homeschool!  What has worked for you?  What do you and your children look forward to learning?  Do you have a great project you would like to share? How about a great book?  My DD (9) LOVES to read series type books.  Do you have some suggestions you would like to share? How about pictures of your classroom?  Or, great supplements?  What do you do to make your day run smoothly?   I would love to hear anything pertaining to homeschooling.

Please join the linky below with your post on a homeschooling topic!  Don't forget to add a link on your blog back here so that others can join in as well.  If your not a blogger, that's ok, just jump in on the comments below.  I can't wait to hear from you!

Happy Schooling!

Become a CVS advisor for Extra Bucks!

Hi all,
Some of you may not know that you can become a CVS advisor.  What this means is, they will occasionally send you a survey to fill out online, and reward you with Extra Care Bucks to use on your next visit.

Examples of the surveys I have been asked to do are:
-Compare CVS ad with a competitors ad
-Questions about last prescription filling experience
-Questions on if you would like for your smart phone to have aps for CVS

They are really easy to do, and only take a few minutes.  Sometimes, after a few questions, they tell you that you didn't qualify for the survey, but still will give you a link to print an Extra Care Buck for your time (usually for $3).  If you do qualify, and get to complete a survey,  I have been given any where from $5-$15 in Extra Care Bucks.

You should go check it out Here.  Have fun earning those Extra Care Bucks!

Have a great weekend!

The MckLinky will be open to add your blog until 11:59pm Tuesday night. You then have all week long to visit blogs and return follows!

There is a new list every week. The link you enter one week will not carry over to the next week's MckLinky. Please link up again each week to join in the fun!

Tuesday Tag-Along Blog Hopper of the Week:
Note: To be eligible to be Blog Hopper of the Week, you MUST place the Tuesday Tag-Along button somewhere on the main page of your blog or website (Inside a blog post does NOT count; it must be on the actual page, e.g. in the sidebar. And since I'll be checking for it manually, I must be able to actually find it). If the randomly-drawn winner does not meet this condition, a new winner will be randomly selected. If you do not want to place the TTA button on your site, you are still more than welcome to join in the blog hop, you will just not be eligible to be the Blog Hopper of the Week.

Each week, one blog will be chosen randomly from all the links, and that lucky blog will be placed in the desirable second slot for the following week's MckLinky!

Have a great day!
Jennifer
